Five of our favorite summer happy hours have the essentials: creative cocktails, smart crowds and unique settings.

Summer happy hours were made for sipping Boqueria's refreshing sangria.

1. El Centro D.F.
Georgetown’s Latin food hot spot is the place to be for exotic sips, especially on Wednesday nights: Margaritas are $5, and guests can take free salsa lessons. 4-7pm daily, 1218 Wisconsin Ave. NW, 202.333.4100

2. Beacon Bar & Grill
Feel free to get some air and breathtaking views at the building’s Sky-Bar, while enjoying happy-hour Champagne and mojito pitchers and yummy bar bites. 4-7pm daily, 1615 Rhode Island Ave. NW, 202.872.1126

3. Boqueria
All hail happy hour, or, as Boqueria puts it, la hora de vermut! Sip sangria or ask your waiter what’s shaken and stirred in the Copa del Dia. The tapas here are also outstanding. 3-7pm daily, 1837 M St. NW, 202.558.9545

4. Bourbon
Cruise through specialty and barrel-aged cocktails, and indulge in whiskey-tasting flights at this house of high-class. Craft drafts and wines are also available. Tue.-Fri. 5-7pm, 2321 18th St. NW, 202.332.0800

5. ENO Wine Bar
An apple a day may keep the doctor away, but a bottle of grapes definitely cures workday blues! The venue’s “Wine Down at ENO” weekly special invites guests to unwind with excellent on-tap wines for just $5! Sun.-Thu. 5-7pm, 2810 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, 202.295.2826
