Like the lunar eclipse from which the Blood Moon gets its name, the drink brings together two opposing forces, a citrus cocktail and a rich caviar to create a rare wonder.
Trip the light fantastic—that’s what Bresca mixologist Will Patton did with his cocktails inspired by the seven natural wonders of the world. The Aurora Borealis menu draws on his fascination with the surreal phenomena. “Their uncanny nature has always interested me, as have the myths that explain their existence,” he says. “Almost every culture has a legend for the origin, so we had [plenty to work with].” These eight libations are as enlightening as the Northern Lights. When the light hits the Black Star Sapphire, an asterism effect creates a reflection reminiscent of the stars. Watch the Erebus & Terror come together in front of you, and you’ll witness smoke swirling above the tall Nick and Nora glass. The idea stems from John Franklin’s unfortunate sea exploration that left his ship sinking under the Northern Lights. The Blood Moon is a DC mag favorite, with cara cara syrup, manzanilla, Aperol and lemon served with a spoonful of trout roe caviar that matches the vibrant hue of the sparkling glass. One last pour?
