A Bite to Remember

| September 28, 2015 | Parties

THE PARTY Foodie fun! More than 2,000 guests came out to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center to celebrate the best in DC dining at the 33rd RAMMY Awards gala. Food and drinks were (unsurprisingly) in grand supply, with kiosks from Chile, Australia, Argentina and Peru featuring a medley of international dishes at the over-the-top post-awards party. Galagoers could visit lounge areas sponsored by Events DC, the Citi Open, Turkish Airlines and matchboxfoodgroup—or hit the enormous dance floor to the tunes of entertainer DJ Neekola. THE PEOPLE DC’s best and brightest chefs were in attendance, including Chef of the Year winner Victor Albisu and rising culinary star George Pagonis. Mayor Muriel Bowser was all smiles in between bites of excellent food; she later went onstage to voice her pride over the state of the District’s restaurant scene. BEST IN SHOW Creative acceptance speeches made the awards portion of the evening all the more entertaining this year. When pastry chef of the year winner Aggie Chin took the stage, she immediately turned around and took a selfie with the award and the crowd behind her—then texted the pic to her mother! –Photos by Vithaya Phongsavan
