DC’s dog lovers and their supercute pups strutted their stuff on an animal-friendly runway at the ninth annual Fashion for Paws fundraiser.

Talk about the dog days of summer! The Washington Humane Society hosted the always-popular Fashion for Paws at the Grand Hyatt Washington to boost awareness and raise funds for local animal welfare. The fun fashion show featured the top fundraisers-turned-models walking the runway with their adorable dolled-up pooches.

More than 1,000 Washingtonians—including WHS President and CEO Lisa LaFontaine and Audi COO Mark Del Rosso—gathered to support the city’s four-legged friends, who sauntered down the (ahem) catwalk in couture by Regal & Pooch, while their human counterparts were dressed by designs from Tysons Galleria’s luxury retail lineup.

Olive, Charlie and the rest of the dogs stole the show, of course, but it was the models who put in the legwork. Before the show, WHS supporters participated in a friendly 12- week fundraising competition. Fundraising models had to raise a minimum of $3,000 for an opportunity to walk the runway. All told, between models and guests, the lively event raised more than $400,000. We’ll raise a paw to that! -Photos by Jackie Garcia
