Continental Fete!

| June 4, 2014 | Parties

The Party
A who’s who of international guests gathered at the Washington Hilton to dine, dance and raise funds for Africare, the nation’s leading NGO dedicated to improving the quality of life for the people of Africa.

The People
More than 500 supporters—including Nigerian Ambassador Howard Jeter, activist Andrew Young and actress Daphne Maxwell Reid—were in the ballroom as Africare’s co-founders C. Payne Lucas and Dr. Joseph C. Kennedy received Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Best in Show
Attendees watched a moving video tribute to Africare’s honorary chairman, the late Nelson Mandela. Later, the event moved to the dance floor, where guests grooved to the sounds of Fusion. –Photos by Julian Mackler
