A Culinary Jubilee

THE PARTY Foodies of DC gathered at Union Market for the 5th annual Sunday Supper. The event, hosted by EDENS and the James Beard Foundation, benefited the Foundation’s Women in Culinary Executive Program. Guest enjoyed a family-style dinner through the tastes of a star-studded lineup of chefs who offered an amazing assortment of flavors and dishes. The dinner began with a chic outdoor cocktail reception, followed by a three-course supper, including charred garlic scapes with roasted shitake, crispy fried quail and blue catfish with green friend rice, followed by milk chocolate peanut bites, roasted strawberry basil tarts, and Mississippi Mud Pies for dessert.

THE PEOPLE Local artists, culinary experts, business leaders and well-known professionals gathered together in the name of food. Notable guests in attendance were DC renowned chefs Nora Pouillon, Ris Lacoste, and Haidar Karoum. Former US Ambassador to Canada, David and Julie Jacobson; Peter Kaplan of Aspen Institute; CBS Bureau Chief Chris Isham; Eric Kessler of Arabella Advisors; and Rutget and Jenny DeVink of RdV Vineyards all made an appearance. Lastly, NBC4’s Eun Yang had all eyes on her as she emceed the event.

BEST IN SHOW There was music too! Bands Jackass Flats, Cottonwood Line & Marc Anderson, and Marc Silver & The Stonethrowers stole the show with their variety of tunes from Western swing to Appalachian fiddle and the soft sounds of the violin.
