THE PARTY College-bound high school students took the stage for a chance at scholarship money at the DC College Access Program’s fifth annual DC-CAPital Stars Talent Competition and Gala. The American Idol-style evening at The Kennedy Center awarded more than $34,000 in scholarships to deserving students. THE PEOPLE United Arab Emirates Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency Yousef Al Otaiba, was the presenting sponsor, alongside DC-CAP Board Chairman Donald Graham, DC-CAP board members Deborah Lehr and Catherine Reynolds, and ABC7/WJLA news anchor Leon Harris emceed the artistic spectacle. BEST IN SHOW Celebrity judges included American Idol star Jordin Sparks, Glee’s Amber Riley, and powerhouses Denyce Graves and Patti LaBelle.
