The annual gala benefiting Bethesda’s nationally acclaimed theater raises money for children of all talents. THE PARTY Patrons and players gathered to support young Washington-area performers at the Imagination Stage gala. Joan Cushing, best known for her adaptations of 13 popular children’s books into stage musicals, took home the coveted Imagination Award, and joined the ranks of past winners Christopher Reeve, Dr. Jane Goodall, Joe Fab and more. Among her many productions are the classic favorites, Miss Nelson Is Missing and Heidi. THE PEOPLE The soirĂ©e was chaired by power couples Margo and Mike Sadow, and Melissa and Scott Lesmes, while emceed by CBS correspondent and Imagination Stage alum Mo Rocca. Politicos in attendance included Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown, Maryland State Delegate Susan Lee, and Maryland House of Delegates Reps. Craig Zucker, Ana Sol Gutierrez and Al Carr. BEST IN SHOW The cocktail hour featured a stellar silent auction, prior to an inspirational, original performance by students and actors of the renowned company. The bash raised more than $275,000, with festivities that concluded with post-show eats and treats assembled by IS board chair and Ridgewells owner Susan Lacz. Photography by Tony Brown/
