THE PARTY International delicacies split the spotlight with elite DC chefs at the 2012 RAMMY Awards. The Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington hosted the fĂȘte for fare at the Marriott Wardman Park, where they wined and dined top restaurateurs and culinarians with Australian, Spanish and Chilean fare. But even Aussie-style lamb chops and swank cocktails couldn’t distract the crowd from the winners of the 16 coveted awards. THE PEOPLE The District’s most savory were honored, including Rasika and Rasika West End’s Vikram Sunderam, who secured the title of Chef of the Year; and Adour’s Fabrice Bendano, who took the cake as top pastry chef. Other chomp-worthy champs? Georgetown’s Bourbon Steak and MidCity paragon, CafĂ© Saint-Ex. Winners tipped their hats—with the evening’s theme in mind—to other foodie favorites, including impresarios Jeff and Barbara Black (Restaurateurs of the Year). BEST IN SHOW A year after it was nearly destroyed in a blaze, Capitol Hill watering hole Tune Inn was awarded the Honorary Milestone RAMMY, commemorating 65 years and three generations of proud family ownership.
