An Evening of Splendor

Beneath a cherry blossom-adorned chandelier, Washingtonians feasted and danced the night away at the 10th annual Children’s Ball, benefitting the Children’s Hospital Foundation.

THE PARTY For the kids! DC Philanthropists, politicians and community leaders enjoyed a night of cocktails, gourmet food, exciting entertainment and a live auction at the 10th annual Children’s Ball. One of the most coveted galas in the District, the Capital Splendor-themed affair supported the medical care, research and advocacy for all children. Guests enjoyed a three-course dinner catered by the Ritz-Carlton, DC and jammed out to Rhythm Collective, a 16-piece band that was introduced by Ryan Seacrest, via video message.

THE PEOPLE The Ritz-Carlton ballroom was filled with more than 800 fabulous attendees. Co-chaired by Alison and Dr. Kurt Newman, MD, the Children’s Ball welcomed notable guests including Zane Burke, President of Cerner Corporation; Yousef Al Otaiba, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates; Joe Hockey, Ambassador of Australia; John Breaux, former US Senator from Louisiana; and George Barker, Virginia Senator. The night was kicked off by Emcee Bret Baier, host of Special Report with Bret Baier on Fox News.

BEST IN SHOW The event brought in over $3.23 million to benefit the Children’s Hospital Foundation-Children’s National Health System. The auction included five, impromptu items, including a performance of Rappers’ Delight by Emcee, Bret Baier, which sold for $5,000. Other items included trips to Abu Dhabi and Tokyo, a private tour of the Vatican, hosted parties at the Australian, Portuguese and Thai Embassies, and private dinners at Nobu and Fiola.
