Fabulous Florence

| January 19, 2016 | Parties

THE PARTY Total knockouts! DC’s most powerful women rocked The Ritz-Carlton’s ballroom for an elegant evening at the annual Knock Out Abuse fundraiser to benefit local victims of domestic violence. The always over-theā€top affair featured a Florence theme this year, with fun touches like muscled men dressed as Roman sculptures and an Italian opera singer. THE PEOPLE NBC’s Today Show co-host Tamron Hall accepted the second annual Break the Silence Award, followed by keynote speaker and honoree Mary Margaret Farren, who shared her inspirational story. The live auction featured a surprise appearance by Washington Redskin Clinton Portis, who auctioned himself and teammates off for a private dinner. BEST IN SHOW Hall accepted her trophy from one of the male models dressed as a Roman statue. She brought some levity to the serious evening when she quipped: “I don’t often get a hot man to hold anything for me. I need to hang out in DC more often!” All told, KOA raised more than $800,000 in one evening. –Photos by Tony Brown
