Getting Into The Spirits

| April 8, 2016 | Parties

Drink up! Columbia Room unveiled its new digs, which includes an outdoor punch garden, a leather-clad spirits library and a swank tasting room. The opening event brought together hip and thirsty guests to try a number of Brown’s creative cocktails, which were paired with divine food.

Epicures congregated at the Shaw neighborhood venue for the highly anticipated opening. Distinguished guests included FOX 5’s Chris Smith, Shinola East Coast Community Relations Director Tom Forrest and National Basketball Players Association Regional Representative and International Liaison Pops Mensah-Bonsu.

Head Bartender JP Fetherston and the entire mixology team shook up four specialty cocktails throughout the evening. The crowd favorite, Derek Brown’s twist on a martini, dubbed The Doubting Duck, included manzanilla pasada, dry vermouth, yellow chartreuse, orange bitters, kelp water and was topped with an oyster leaf. The drink was paired with a pickled oyster on uni-buttered toast. Delish!
