The Party
Float like a butterfly! DC-based nonprofit Fair Chance—an organization focused on funding local children’s charities—hosted its annual festive fundraiser with an evening at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium that included fanciful cocktails, live music from Black & Blue Experience and celebrity emcee duties by sports analyst and former Washington football player Chris Cooley.

The People
The glam gala attracted more than 850 guests and supporters of Fair Chance (which funds dozens of local nonprofits like The Literacy Lab, Urban Alliance and Generation Hope), including bold-faced names Raul J. Fernandez, co-owner of the Washington Capitals, Wizards and Mystics, and his wife, Jean-Marie; Fox News anchor Bret Baier and his wife, Amy; and IDI Group’s G. John Cecchi and his wife, Kristin Rae.

Best In Show
This year’s Butterfly Bash was a record-breaking event. In addition to honoring Carrie and David Marriott for their dollars and dedication to improving the lives of at-risk youth in the DC area, gala-goers collectively raised $450,000 in one evening—the highest fundraising total yet in its eight years. A metamorphosis indeed! –Photos by Alfredo Flores and Sebastien Marin
