In Good Taste

| July 9, 2012 | Parties National

THE PARTY Art Smith’s milkshakes would bring just about anyone to the yard, and, on a recent evening at his Art and Soul restaurant on Capitol Hill, it felt like just about everyone was there. Foodies, big and small, got cooking at Smith’s fundraiser, benefiting Common Threads, his after-school program that focuses on teaching low-income kids how to prepare healthy, thrifty meals. THE PEOPLE Top DC chefs, like Scott Drewno of The Source, Ravi Narayanan of Acacia and chefs from Graffiato, teamed up with the “Small Threads” to stir up globally inspired cuisine, enjoyed by celebrity hosts, former Food Network Star contestant Mary Beth Albright, Top Chef All Stars’ Carla Hall and Smith, himself. BEST IN SHOW The whole event wasn’t child’s play. Scotch and whiskey tastings, headed up by Ewan Morgan of Diageo, were on offer, along with the award-winning signature cocktails of the restaurant’s in-house mixologist, Ronald Flores, and The Passenger’s Alex Bookless.
