Hearts in Paris

| March 26, 2015 | Parties

The American Heart Association’s annual black-tie fundraiser welcomed special guest Chelsea Clinton for a Parisian-themed party at the Mandarin Oriental.

Fabulous fete! Supporters of the Greater Washington chapter of the American Heart Association opened their hearts—and wallets—for the Heart Ball, an annual fundraiser dedicated to the life-saving work of the AHA. Guests got into the Francophile theme with a feast that included filet mignon and loup de mer, while the decor included a model of Paris’ famous Love Locks Bridge.

More than 500 guests, including Kay Kapoor, the Heart Ball chair and president of AT&T Government Solutions, showed their support, while a special salute to military doctors and nurses was also on the evening’s agenda. An afterparty by Pulse, a group of young professionals active in AHA, featured a live band, dessert reception and dancing.

As guests settled into their seats, they were greeted by a rousing and candid speech from Chelsea Clinton—vice chair of the Clinton Foundation— who spoke about her father’s brush with a heart attack and other personal experiences with heart disease within her famous family. To top off the heart-warming affair, the ball raised more than $1 million for the heart-healthy nonprofit. Happy hearts, indeed. Photography by Tony Brown.
