Inauguration Encore

| March 14, 2013 | Parties

THE PARTIES The commander in chief’s swearing-in celebration called for heavy winter coats on the National Mall and full-on glitz and glam for the weekend’s chic red-carpet scene. THE PEOPLE Hollywood loves a good political party, and Inauguration weekend brought out the celebs in full force. Unlikely party pals crossed paths all over the city: Sen. Paul Strauss partied with Paula Abdul and David Arquette at The Creative Coalition’s Mari Vanna bash. Miss America 2013 Mallory Hagan worked the press line with Madeleine Albright at the Newsweek/The Daily Beast Cafe Milano party. Secretary of State John Kerry and Eva Longoria came together to host the Latino Inaugural Ball, with special guests Vice President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill. And actress Rosario Dawson made the rounds, hosting the Voto Latino Party, then sharing the stage with Dr. Benjamin Chavis at the Hip-Hop Inaugural Ball. BEST IN SHOW No feat for “Ordinary People”: Chart topper and inauguration’s No. 1 party-hopper, John Legend, attended an astonishing nine events over four days, including a performance with rapper Common at the Generation Now party.
