THE PARTY
Hundreds of guests gathered at the residence of Colombian Ambassador Luis Carlos Villegas, and his wife, Carmela de Villegas, for the annual Noche de Pasión, a fundraiser celebrating the cultural impact of Latin music and dance. The swank soiree featured live performances by The Washington Ballet, as well as music from the Gregorio Uribe Big Band and Latin Grammy Award-Nominee Adriana Lucía.
THE PEOPLE
The party included plenty of VIPs, such as Ecuador Ambassador Nathalie Cely; Former Ambassador of Mexico Arturo Sarukhan and his wife, Veronica Valencia Sarukhan; Katharine Weymouth of The Washington Post; The Washington Ballet’s Septime Webre; Rep. John Delaney and his wife, April McClain-Delaney; restaurateur James Alefantis; and philanthropists Jean-Marie and Raul Fernandez.
BEST IN SHOW
The theme of the night, Colombia Tropical, translated into dancing and dining inspired by Colombia’s coastal towns. While well-known DJ Chris spun Latin beats late into the night, the real spotlight was on the $159,000 raised for The Washington Ballet’s Latino Dance Fund. –Photos by Russell Hirshon
