THE PARTY Turn wounds into wisdom! An afternoon of inspirational insights about change, growth and courage converged in the comforts of The Ritz Carlton. The 10th annual empowerment luncheon celebrated the achievements of the largest provider of women-only services for DC’s homeless population – N Street Village, and shared its stirring stories to new and old supporters. Additionally, the event’s proceeds will provide future services for the women of the shelter.

THE PEOPLE Over 300 devotees, including many local business and government leaders, arrived to this sold out regalement of empowerment. The event featured the powerful testimony from the women of N Street Village, such as Lynda Rush and Lolita Mitchell, regarding their personal stories and those of trailblazers within their own community. And of course, a very special keynote speaker with a big voice and a larger-than-life heart graced a new stage to speak.


BEST IN SHOW Million-Dollar Oprah! THE global media leader, philanthropist, producer and actress, Oprah Winfrey shared her strength and support as the event’s featured speaker. Winfrey, a self-made woman extraordinaire, being no stranger to personal struggles and battles, shared her own story and a rather large announcement. During her speech, in typical Oprah gift-giving fashion, she donated a generous $1 million to N Street Village! Who better to inspire and excite attendees than the one-woman show, with a one-word identifier – Oprah!
