Lock & Key

The crew from "Ocean's Eleven" might find this safe the most intriguing—and drinkable—spot in the District.
The Ritz-Carlton downtown features a new liquor vault fit for a king and queen of cocktails.

You don’t need an expert lock-picker to break into the stash at The Ritz-Carlton’s Quandrant Bar & Lounge and its recently unveiled The Vault. But you do need some serious cash.

The custom-built safe holds up to 30 bottles of rare sips, including the Dalmore 35-year-old single-malt Scotch whisky ($1,000 for a 2-ounce pour) and the Bowmore 1961 50-year-old single-malt Scotch whisky ($5,000 a pour).

Lead mixologist Chris Mendenhall says experiencing these reserves is both enlightening and sublime. After all, “few in the world have the opportunity to taste” these magnificent sips. 1150 22nd St. NW, 202.835.0500
