Masterpiece Moments

| July 11, 2014 | Parties

The Party
The Washington Project for the Arts’ annual gala and silent auction for Select 2014 attracted a cadre of art collectors to celebrate the region’s creative community.

The People
Guests—including Brandon Fortune, chief curator for the National Portrait Gallery, and Juanita Hardy, CulturalDC’s director—enjoyed raw oysters from Atlantic Seafood and took a swing at the eye-popping piƱatas created by Select artists. We loved Calder Brannock’s Trojan horse creation!

Best In Show
Art-lovers raised $300,000 for WPA programs, and Select curator Mera Rubell showed works from the exclusive Marianne Boesky Gallery in New York. –Photos by Tony Brown
