Matchmaking

| August 28, 2012 | Parties

THE PARTY More than 500 people attended the Stars vs. Stripes match, which raised more than $15,000 for the D.C. Public Education Fund, Share Our Strength and Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors. THE PEOPLE The friendly competition was fierce for this philanthropic endeavor. Members of the media, including Bloomberg’s Peter Cook and Hans Nichols, Fox News’ Bret Baier and ABC’s Jonathan Karl, competed alongside politicians from both sides of the aisle, with Sens. Evan Bayh and John Breaux, as well as Rep. Steve LaTourette, scoring points with fans. Local sports notables, like DC United coach Ben Olsen and NFL Hall-of-Famer Darrell Green, took the court to show off their well-known athletic prowess. BEST IN SHOW While rivalries stirred, DC Councilwoman Yvette Alexander lightened the mood, flaunting her dance moves to the tune of “Peanut Butter Jelly Time.” Not to be outdone, former Washington Redskin Rocky McIntosh wowed the crowd with handsprings before becoming the game’s unofficial ball boy.
