Skip The Vodka And Try The Gimlet With A Monkey 47 Gin Recipe

Celia Konstantellou | August 17, 2020 | Food & Drink National

Named after its penetrating effects on the drinker, the gimlet is a cocktail made of gin or vodka and lime juice. A 1928 description of the drink was: "gin, a spot of lime and soda,“ so say forget about the vodka and stick with gin.

According to another theory, the drink was named after British Royal Navy Surgeon Rear-Admiral Sir Thomas Gimlette KCB, who allegedly discovered this drink in his efforts to create an anti-scurvy medication, as limes and other citrus fruit have been frequently used by the Royal Navy for the prevention of scurvy since the mid-18th century. Here, we present Monkey 47's own piercing recipe.
