A Novel Evening

| July 11, 2014 | Parties

The Party
The Living Room of the W Hotel buzzed with excitement as Emily Giffin fans—clutching copies of the author’s latest release—waited in line to meet the acclaimed chick-lit author, who signed her book and chatted animatedly with devoted readers. Fabulously fashionable attendees turned the hotel’s lobby into summer central as they sipped cocktails, danced to a live DJ and discussed beach reads.

The People
Giffin attracted plenty of glam fans to her signing, including philanthropist Mariella Trager and politico Debbie Dingell. The author’s godmother and childhood best friend also turned out, as well as a surprise contingent of fellow Wake Forest University graduates!

Best In Show
Giffin—who is also the author behind the Kate Hudson-helmed movie, Something Borrowed—proved she has a strong DC fan base. Her books sold out before the evening ended! “The evening sparkled, thanks to a fabulous venue and all the beautiful girls, and few brave men, who came out to see me,” Giffin told DC. “I am so grateful to my wonderful readers. Way to bring your A game, DC!” –Photos by Alfredo Flores
