The Party: The Washington National Opera’s Mid-Winter Fiesta at the Mexican Cultural Institute featured salsa dancing, an array of Mexican delicacies, a seven-piece mariachi band and indoor mercado of auction items. The People: The south-of-the-border soirĂ©e was hosted by His Excellency, the Ambassador of Mexico, Arturo Sarukhan, and his wife, Veronica Valencia-Sarukhan. Alison Bibee and Jessica Melugin of WNO’s woman’s committee co-chaired the evening.
