The Party
More than 350 of Carla Hall’s hungry fans lined up at the Room & Board-sponsored evening affair to get a fresh copy of The Chew co-host’s comfort food-focused cookbook autographed and talk shop with the soon-to-be restaurant owner.

The People
While Hall’s loyal fans eagerly awaited her arrival, they shared notes on the chef’s cookbooks, Cooking With Love and Carla’s Comfort Foods, and browsed the home store’s sleek collection. Once the chef, clad in her signature glasses, arrived, she shared stories of dreaming up new comfort-food recipes with a twist. “The term comfort food makes everybody think of all my Southern favorites, but there are other things I love,” Hall told DC magazine in an interview. “I love pho and any kind of warming soup, or anything creamy, crunchy and warm.”

Ever the gracious hostess, Hall took the time to chat with each guest after the book signing (while her polite fans spontaneously formed a line to chat with her!) and, in a testament to her popularity, both of her books were sold out before the night was over! –Photos by Daniel Swartz
