THE PARTY The nonprofit FAIR Girls, made up of youth support organizations, hosted its annual Pearls of Purpose to empower young women against exploitation. THE PEOPLE Michelle Obama’s Chief of Staff Tina Tchen delivered a special address to an audience that included Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director John Morton, former Rep. John Tanner and FAIR Girls survivor Theopistar Katusiime. BEST IN SHOW Katusiime spoke to the gathered, explaining her journey from being trafficked at age 16 to now being a mentor for girls in Kampala, Uganda. Photography by Michael Colella
