Service in Style

| April 4, 2013 | Parties

THE PARTY This legendary league of ladies celebrated 100 years of service with a grand gala, aptly titled Fête at the National Building Museum. But the party didn’t stop there. Leaguers and League-lovers also attended the chic Aprés Fête. THE PEOPLE Among the 650 supporters and members who came out to celebrate were VIPs like DC Mayor Vincent C. Gray and United Way of the National Capital Area President and CEO Bill Hanbury. News4 Anchor and Reporter Angie Goff was also on hand to emcee the live auction, which featured some enviable vacation packages, like a trip to New York Fashion Week and a golf weekend in Pebble Beach. BEST IN SHOW The numbers were notable at this altruistic affair. More than $43,000 was raised to benefit the league’s Resolution Read initiative that kicked off in June 2012. The goal of this program is to purchase and distribute 100,000 new books to children in the DC community. Photography by Ginny Teague
