THE PARTY What a sight to see! DC’s very own Diner en Blanc—the world-famous epicurean event that combines the fun of a flash mob with a photo-ready feast in cities around the globe—closed out the summer season with fabulous foodies dining together downtown. Guests came from all across the region with their tables, food, wine and white tablescapes to take part in the sold-out dinner. THE PEOPLE As its French name suggests, attendees must don all-white duds to take part in the Paris-born event. But for the 2,700 attendees—double that of last year’s inaugural event—that didn’t mean simple sundresses. Many got creative and wore everything from wedding dresses to top hats and tails to feathered headdresses. BEST IN SHOW As night fell, guests lit sparklers and then danced the night away while a DJ spun tunes. “This is unlike anything you’ve ever seen here,” Linda Davis, a co-host of Diner en Blanc Washington, told DC. “This is our community coming together, meeting each other. It’s a magical night for the city.” –Photos by Vita Images/Jennifer Heffner and Daniel Swartz
