THE PARTY The National Museum of Women in the Arts’ annual spring gala, the museum’s largest fundraising event of the year, gathered Washingtonians in their magnificent grand hall for an evening of dinner, dancing, silent auction bidding and art! Proceeds from the event directly support the exhibitions and programs dedicated to celebrating the achievements of women in the visual, performing, and literary arts. During the event guests participated in mobile bidding for the silent auction and had the opportunity to peruse through the exhibit, She Who Tells a Story: Women Photographers from Iran and the Arab World, which explores themes of protests, war and identity.
THE PEOPLE The gala was chaired by Her Excellency Maguy Maccario Doyle, the Ambassador of Monaco to the United States. Guests included Kim Sajet from the National Portrait Gallery; Dorothy Kosinski from The Phillips Collection; Jenny Bilfeidl from The Washington Performing Arts Society; and Gonzalo Sanchez de Lozada, the former president of Bolivia.
BEST IN SHOW Big Ray and the Kool Cats kept the dance floor hopping all night long while Occasions Catering served up an unforgettable dining experience featuring a Persian themed menu and Persian rosewater cocktails. The highlight and main course of the evening was a juicy tenderloin served with traditional Shirin Polo rice with wine pairings courtesy of Total Wine. To continue with the theme of the evening, guests finished off their dining experience with Persian Love cake for dessert.
