Tiny Bubbles

The Party
Raise a glass! As part of a cross-country tour touting the esteemed Champagne, Veuve Clicquot and its yellow mail truck rolled into DC for a sexy soiree in the W Hotel’s lobby, where guests got the chance to sample some Champs and try their hand at writing old-fashioned love letters.

The People
More than 250 bubble lovers took over the lavish lobby for the evening engagement. Veuve Clicquot’s costumed mailmen and mail women circulated throughout the evening to deliver private notes passed between guests, handwritten by calligrapher Dottie Gray. No word if any love connections were made, but Gray did make a special sign just for DC magazine in the VIP room!

Best in Show
Of course, Champagne was the star. A Vintage Vault was set up for attendees to sample Veuve Clicquot Rosé and Blanc 2004, while DJ Alchemist spun tunes and servers passed appetizers like homemade seasoned potato chips and duck-fat fries with rosemary— perfect pairings for a flute brimming with Veuve! -Photography by Tony Brown
