THE PARTY Washington-area winos went ape for grapes at the first-ever DC Wine Week, which featured educational events, tastings and even wine-injected cupcakes at Co Co. Sala. THE PEOPLE Founder Lisa Byrne kicked off the festivities at Sonoma Restaurant and Wine Bar with a cadre of wine bloggers, policy wonks and local media mavens. BEST IN SHOW Sonoma sommelier and wine director Patricia Ely set the bar high for the inaugural event by masterfully pairing hors d’oeuvres with her selections, which included a crisp chardonnay and an aromatic pinot noir from Castle Rock.
