W for Wow

| October 28, 2013 | Parties

THE PARTY The night had finally arrived in high style at the W, and the District’s dining elite toasted chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s recently remodeled DC outpost with an exclusive preview of the resto’s brand-new luxe look, featuring an interior (think dramatic dark walls and modern furniture) that matches J&G’s lavish menu. Guests were overheard commenting about the dramatic transformation of the light-filled space, with its mix of see-and-be-seen prime tables and tucked-away alcoves for intimate encounters. THE PEOPLE The patio was the place to be as guests, including Marlene Hu of Hu’s Wear and Hu’s Shoes, Ed Henry of Fox News and Timothy Lowery of CityCenterDC, listened to the sounds of a jazz trio and sampled appetizers from the bar menu, including American caviar with crispy potatoes and cream fraiche, and handcut beef tartare on Parmesan toast. BEST IN SHOW The revamped restaurant includes the brand-new Bar 515 and tableside martini carts that make the rounds during dinner. Partygoers sipped on craft cocktails from the menu, including the Goldfinger, with Grey Goose vodka, Bombay Sapphire gin, Lillet Blanc wine—and real gold dust! Photography by Vithaya Phongsavan
